Die Hauptzielart des Life Projektes Benninger Ried ist die Ried- oder Purpur Grasnelke (Armeria purpurea) die hier Ihren weltweit letzten Fundort hat. Auf früheren Fundorten am Bodensee konnte die Art seit 1975 nicht mehr nachgewiesen werden.

The main species of this special LIFE project is Armeria purpurea which found its last habitat all over the world in the Benninger fen. In previous habitats at the Lake Constance this species has no longer been found since 1975.
