Knecht

(-) Und er sprach: Mein Herr König, mein Knecht hat mich betrogen. Denn dein Knecht gedachte, ich will einen Esel satteln und darauf reiten und zum König ziehen, denn dein Knecht ist lahm.

And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

sprach er: Verflucht sei Kanaan und sei ein Knecht aller Knechte unter seinen Brüdern!

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

Dazu redeten seine Knechte noch mehr wider Gott den HERRN und wider seinen Knecht Hiskia.

Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

und verheißen ihnen Freiheit, ob sie wohl selbst Knechte des Verderbens sind. Denn von wem jemand überwunden ist, des Knecht ist er geworden.

While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Wende dich aber, HERR, mein Gott, zu dem Gebet deines Knechtes und zu seinem Flehen, daß du erhörest das Bitten und Beten, das dein Knecht vor dir tut;

Have respect therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee:
