Derzeit ist Wales in Großbritannien – das aus drei Nationen, nämlich England, Schottland und Wales, besteht – in diesem Haus mit fünf Abgeordneten vertreten.

At the moment, in Britain which is composed of three nations, England, Scotland and Wales Wales is currently represented in this House by five Members.

Da kein Mitglied aus Wales anwesend ist, möchte ich es übernehmen, die Bevölkerung von Wales zur Ausübung ihres demokratischen Selbstbestimmungsrechts zu beglückwünschen.

In the absence of any Members from Wales, I should like to take it upon myself to congratulate the people of Wales on the exercise of their democratic right to self-determination.

Ich möchte zunächst dem Präsidenten meinen Dank aussprechen für seinen Besucht in Wales, wo er Gespräche zu diesem Thema sowie über die Sorgen der von der BSE-Krise in Wales betroffenen Menschen geführt hat.

Herr Präsident, letzten Samstag nahm ich an der Eröffnungsfeier der Rugby-Weltmeisterschaft in Cardiff teil. Cardiff ist die Hauptstadt meines Heimatlandes Wales, und die Mannschaft aus Wales gewann tatsächlich das Spiel an diesem Tag!

Mr President, last Saturday, I was privileged to be at the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales where I come from and Wales actually won!
