Fasting the tenth of Muharram atones for the sins of two years, on the other hand, only atones for the sins of one year.

Der Beweis dafür findet sich in dem Hadîth von Abû Qatâda, in dem der Prophet sagte: „Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass Allâh für das Fasten am Tag Arafât die Sünden des vorigen Jahres und die Sünden des kommenden Jahres vergibt.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Denn des Leibes Leben ist im Blut, und ich habe es euch auf den Altar gegeben, daß eure Seelen damit versöhnt werden. Denn das Blut ist die Versöhnung, weil das Leben in ihm ist.
