The issue of surcharging or offering a discount on a given payment instrument is, according to European legislation, left to the discretion of the merchant.

Preisaufschläge bzw. Preisnachlässe bei Verwendung bestimmter Zahlungsmittel sind nach europäischem Recht Händlersache.

The Office shall issue to the holder a request containing the subject of payment, the amount due, the date for payment, and information on the possibility of a surcharge pursuant to Aricle 13 (2) (a).

Das Amt richtet eine Aufforderung an den Inhaber, aus der der Zweck der Zahlung, der fällige Betrag und der Zahlungstermin hervorgeht sowie auf die etwaige Erhebung einer Zuschlagsgebühr gemäß Artikel 13 Absatz 2 Buchstabe a) hingewiesen wird.
