Like any politician, Sharon obviously wishes to be re-elected, and the prospect of re-election would fade from sight if Israelis were exposed to economic sanctions because of the way in which he governs.

Scharon möchte natürlich, wie alle Politiker, wiedergewählt werden, doch wäre dieses Ziel gefährdet, wenn die israelische Bevölkerung aufgrund von Scharons Regierungsmaßnahmen von wirtschaftlichen Sanktionen betroffen wäre.
