There cannot be a return to the status quo ante, and I think we could do a number of things here.

Nevertheless it would have been preferable to return to the status quo ante, but that would require Members to be sufficiently confident of their politics that they did not feel the need to be protected against overly attentive lobbying.

Dennoch wäre es besser gewesen, zum Status quo ante zurückzukehren, doch daß würde voraussetzen, daß die Abgeordneten genügend Vertrauen in ihre Politik setzen und es nicht für notwendig halten, sich vor einer allzu engagierten Lobby zu schützen.
