Numerosas palabras del lenguaje cotidiano de los uruguayos provienen del guaraní, sin que se conozca ese hecho a nivel popular: pororó, chúra (achura), bacaray, butiá, arazá, timbó, guazuvirá, chajá, yaguareté, tatú, entre otros.

Viele Wörter aus der Alltagssprache der Uruguayer kommen vom Guaraní, obwohl dies nicht sehr bekannt ist: u. a. Popcorn (Pororó), chura (Erstechung) bacaray, butiá, arazá, timbó, guazuvirá, chajá, yaguareté (Jaguar) und tatú (Gürteltier).
